Why did you decide to join Jim’s Termite & Pest Control?
I decided to join Jim’s Termite & Pest Control because I wanted a positive change in my life that allowed me a greater work life balance. I have always had a keen fascination of all aspects of the natural world and found the kind of work offered varied, fascinating and rewarding.
What are your values?
My Values are an integral part of my daily work and home life. My values include honesty, integrity, punctuality, professionalism, friendship, loyalty and efficiency.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to spend time with family and friends including my dog Harry. I enjoy the outdoors, camping, fishing and nature in general. I have been fascinated by the natural world for as long as I can remember and have a special interest in reptiles and birds.
Tell us a little about your family?
My wife and I have two children aged 7 and 4 and Harry our Staffy / first child. We have a very active family life with weekly catch ups and holidays with various members of our immediate families and friends.
What tips can you give your customers?
Keep your house and garden clean and tidy to remove the necessary harbourage areas for unwanted pests to reside. By doing this your property will be less enticing as a place of refuge or residence. I also recommend a regular pest treatment and tackling pest issues early.
What has been one of your most interesting jobs?
There have been many and it is hard to mention just one. One that does come to mind was a serious infestation of bed bugs which required a lot of communication and cooperation by the householder and myself to achieve effective control and a positive outcome for the clients physical and mental health. Serious infestations of German cockroaches also come to mind.
How has your Jim’s Termite & Pest Control Franchise been since you have joined?
It has been excellent! It has allowed me to achieve the work life balance I longed for as well as giving me the flexibility to participate in the more day to day activities with my family as well as family commitments. It has renewed my personal drive and made me re-evaluate my goals both personally and professionally.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I see myself managing employees, maintaining and servicing commercial contracts as well as working on and in my business on and off the tools.
What pest issues do you find in your local community?
I encounter a range of pest issues within my local community including bees, wasps, rodents, possums, cockroach’s, ants, and spiders. I also encounter issues with birds, bird mites, fleas, Carpet beetles and bed bugs. I have a current wildlife control license so I also undertake snake removals from time to time.
